Karitini Underpass Trialled With One Lane

The Kartini Underpass, Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta has begun to be trialled since Thursday (2/22). During the trial period, in the underpass, the motorists can only use one lane.

Jakarta Bina Marga Dept. Head, Yusmada Faizal disclosed, considering trail is still ongoing, his side only opens one lane. The underpass itself has two lanes from north towards south.

"Trial has been done since yesterday at 2 PM, but only one lane," he expressed, Friday (2/23).

Officers Will Be Alerted at Kartini Underpass Construction

His party will continue to evaluate the trial. The opening of two lanes is slated to be done gradually to see the behavior of motorists.

"That's what the trial. This is still the period of introduction in the new situation. The signs are already complete," he told.

Separately, South Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept. Head, Christianto added 10 officers have been sent to manage traffic in the field. He hoped, it could parse traffic jam in the area.

"We will help in the field, as this is built by Bina Marga Dept.," he stated.

Based on Beritajakarta.id, a banner containing the underpass test information is already mounted on the Pedestrian People Bridge (JPO), precisely on the lip of the underpass.

"Vehicles crossing the underpass lane are not only two and four wheels, but also Transjakarta. Through the underpass, the vehicle doesn't need to pass traffic light at the intersection of Jalan Kartini," he stated.
